That is a Home Guard rifle and is unsafe to shoot modern .308 ammo. The Spanish gov't rebarrelled a bunch of Mod.93 and 95 carbines for what was the equivalent of a national guard function; to be issued only if an invasion was imminent. It was to be used only with issue ammo, a NATO 7.62X51mm that was loaded to around 2550 fps. Being a small ring Mauser doesn't disqualify it for full pressure loads in itself, but the Spanish metallurgy sure does. DON'T shoot factory 308 in this thing. Get some loaded down to it's capability and it will pile up deer like most other 30 cals.
