hello Mauser forums,
I bought a rifle from a friend recently and am trying to find out what model it is, and how to adjust the telescopic sight. I found your very interesting forum on the Internet and sent an e-mail to Zod the administrator, who suggested I put a post up and ask the members for advice.
The rifle is a five shot repeater .22 which has not been used for many years. I tried shooting it last weekend and it seems to be very accurate. It shoots tight groups although the scope (which has two horizontal bars, which almost meet a vertical chisel pointed post) needs adjusting, so that the bullets strike at its aiming point. I don't know how to do that with this type of scope. The rifle has the following markings:
left hand side action and barrel: 208017 Mauser Werke A.G. Oberndorf A.N.
right hand side under rear sight: D.R.P.D.R.G.M.
on telescopic sight: Carl Zeiss Jena Zielklein No. 46414
There is a circular device on the top of the scope near the front end, with one big screw slot and four small screw slots, two above and two below the big screwdriver slot. The scope has an old type of rubber shroud at the eyepiece and at the objective end. When you twist the eyepiece end rubber, the target comes into focus. The scope can be quickly removed by turning two knurled knobs front and rear, and there are holes in the mounts so that the iron sights can also be used when the scope is on the rifle.
If anyone could what model the rifle is, how old it is, or how to adjust this scope for accuracy I would really appreciate the advice. I have a picture (which I also sent to Zod) but not sure how to post it, on this type of forum. Thanking you in advance for any information you might care to share, Andrew in Sydney, Australia
